Summer Air Travel Tips from Airport Angels
Make Your Next Journey Smoother, Safer, and More Enjoyable

Summer is the busiest time of year for air travel. Airports are crowded, flights are full, and families, students, and solo travelers are all chasing sunshine and adventure. At Airport Angels, we know that travel should be exciting, not exhausting. Whether you’re heading out for a vacation or welcoming loved ones home, here are some tips to help you glide through the summer skies stress-free.

🕓 1. Arrive Early—Earlier Than You Think

During peak summer travel months, security lines can be longer and parking more limited. We recommend arriving at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours for international. If you’re using a new airport or traveling with children, give yourself even more buffer time.

Insider Tip: If you’re flying out of Syracuse, ask about Airport Angels’ meet-and-assist services—we’re here to help you every step of the way.

💡 2. Know Before You Go

Double-check your flight status before you leave for the airport. Delays, gate changes, and cancellations are more common in the summer due to weather and congestion.  If you are parking at the airport, check the airport’s current parking availability prior to arrival or pre-book a parking reservation to ensure you have a parking space when you arrive for your departure.

Pro Tip: Download your airline’s app and enable notifications. It’s often faster than waiting in line to speak with an agent.

🧳 3. Pack Smart—And Light

Make sure your carry-on complies with TSA regulations (liquids under 3.4 oz, electronics easily accessible, etc.). Airlines are stricter about overhead bin space in the summer, so the lighter and more compact, the better.

Bonus: Luggage tracking tags (like AirTags) offer peace of mind if you’re checking bags.

☀️ 4. Hydrate & Dress Comfortably

Airports and planes can be unpredictable when it comes to temperature. Dress in layers and bring a reusable water bottle you can refill after security. Dehydration worsens jet lag and fatigue—especially when traveling with little ones or older adults.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 5. Traveling with Kids or Seniors? Ask for Help

Navigating a busy terminal is tough with strollers, mobility concerns, or sensory sensitivities. That’s where Airport Angels can make all the difference. We offer personalized assistance to get you and your loved ones from curb to gate with less stress and more care. If you need help from a remote parking lot, we will gladly provide that assistance as well.
